Hello River Runners,

This Sunday June 29th we will head out to the Lancaster/Harrisburg, Pa. area and ride the Susquehana River at Lake Clark or otherwise known as Long Level. We will meet up with Mikey, Steve, Jennifer, Nate and hopefully draw some new members to the club for that area. We will meet up around Jennifer and Steve's pontoon boat which will be anchored on the other side of the river opposite the Long Level Marina down by the first trough that carries water over the railroad tracks about 1 to 1 1/2 miles away from the last boat launch. We will meet there around 10:30 a.m. If anyone is planning on coming just post here or e-mail me so I can have a head count. Let hope for good weather cheers

Thanks,

Watts

Hello everyone ! Here the direction to Long Level . coming from Reading take 222 onto 283 N , then to 30 west . I wish the light at the Columbia exit would be working , because it would be a little easier . So what you want to do is go across the 30 bridge to the first exit to your right called Wrightsville . make a left at the stop sign . You will go past a Rutters gas station . Then you will come to a red light . I like going straight through the red light , but stop first if RED ! You will go down a hill then up a hill you will see a School on top of the hill on right . Make a left on to the road & keep going staight . You will be up high & see the river to your right & the huge houses to your right . One of the houses is my penhouse !
You will be onto top a hill & when you come to a stop sign be very cautious making the left .
You will be going down a hill toward the river . The river will be on your left . Follow the road past Lake Clark Long Level Marina . You will come to a stop sign ! The maine road will bare to right . You want to keep going straight ! ,But stop first ! You will see a grassy parking area to your right . Then you will see a stone pumping station . Then you will see 2 cops directing trafic . There is a parking area to your right & this is where I put my ski in . You need to go up around & unstrap your ski or if lucky you can find a parking spot around the outside edge of lot . The middle is for cars only & Tony will give a ticket , But tell him you know me & you will be fine ! I got friends in low places ! Now the tricky part . When you launch yor ski . You need to criss cross on the ramp . I go to my left side of ramp , because they like the skis to be parked on the left . Make sure you have a anchor with you ! There are no docks for jet skiers !

If for some reson it is full you can go go straight past Shanks Mare ice cream store . Go to stop sign . A little church or school house on right . Go straight to next stop sign . Go staight until parking lot is to your right & you just back staight down the ramp . This is always full so that is why I go to the first landng .

So the people that have a pontoon boat can all meet at the sand bar & gather into a group ? I will be at first landing & if anyone goes to the last landing we can meet just ouside the no wake zone but in the middle of where the middle parking lot is untill we get situated & head over to the sand bar ! Does that sound like a plan ?

Know if they are calling for storms that day I am not sure what to do . My dad & I were caught in a bad storm a couple years ago , because they form right there on the river & so darn fast ! First it was a little choppy ,& then 5 ft swells it was horrible with lighting all around & 50-60 mph winds it was a bad storm & don't need to throught that again ! So think SUNSHINE !!!

Hello everyone ,

I am not sure if anyone else has been watching the weather , but I heard that Saturday is going to have PM thunderstorms . While on Sunday they are calling for severe weather on Sunday , because there is a strong cold front moving in that day in the mid morning or afternoon . I watch Penn state weather & they did a sure bet that some place in PA is going to have hail & tornados . I will keep watching to see if they change the forcast or not & will post back latter .

I would had made the ride on Saturday , but I got to work from 6AM-5PM ! The day will be shot ! So Watts if you have anything you want to add to this go ahead ? I was thinking you guys can go on Saturday to Long Level . It is not that hard to get lost on the river ! Where you see a lot of boats parked up river to your right is the sand bar 2 miles up river can't miss it !

Hey Mikey,

I think you do a great job with the weather. Pimp Daddy The Weatherman cheers Maybe we will have to give you your own page on the website. Well hopefully the weather changes. We just can't catch a good break these past couple of weeks. Maybe July will be better. Keep me posted.

Hello everyone,

Jen and myself plan to be out on the river on Sunday by 9:45 or 10. They have called for thunderstorms the last few times out and it's been hit or miss for a few showers.

We have 2 Sea Doo yellow/black GTX skiis, so we'll look for everyone around 10am by hte ramps.
The area we usually anchor is actually downstream about a mile and a half below the last public boat ramp.
On the opposite side of the river where the first trough carries water over the railroad tracks and empties into the river. We will have our small grill and hot dogs for anyone who would like to have a couple for lunch.

We are not up at the sand bar. Too crowded and choppy to wakeboard and kneeboard.

We'll keep checking here to see if everything is still on.

Hello ,

I just got back from eating at the Country Table ! Had stuffed chicken breast , mashed potatos & applesauce !

I did watch the Penn State weather & Sunday they are calling for peroids of bad storms . There is a strong cold front that is going to cool things down for the begining of the work week . Some rain might linger into Monday . So I am going to go to church at 9AM - 10:30 AM . Then check the weather after church , but I don't think my dad will want go in the storms . If the rader is clear , then I might go to the river . It just takes us 20 minutes to get there & put in at ramp . I will be working tomorrow & check back on here to see whats going on about Sunday . Have a great night I am going to hit the hey @ 9:45 PM !

Well I think tomorrow is going to be to close to call. Seems like mikey is right, storms moving in tonight and heavy thunderstorms on and off tomorrow morning thru early Monday morning. I think our best bet is see what it is like in the A.M. and go from there. Hopefully it holds off untill the evening. I am hoping that the rest of the season is more promising with the weather on the weekends. Rolling Eyes

Thanks,

Watts

Hello Everyone ,

It just doesn't sound like a good day to be on the water ! It may start as sunshine , but by noon I think we will have thunder storms ! when the weather is iffy I don't like being on the water . So I won't be going tomorrow . I would hate to see you drive for an hr & have a thunderstorm . There are still days left this summer ! I herad that over the 4th is going to become humid again with thunerstorms this Friday . This next week I might be going to the beach for 2 days , but not taking skis . This Wedesday sounds like a good day to ride then go down hill for the weekend . Take care & HAPPY 4TH OF JULY !!!

Watts,

I second the notion that we need to string up the weathermen.

Once again they called for showers/thunderstorms and the weather was great. Mostly sunny all day yesterday and warm.

Maybe we'll see some of you in August when you plan to ride at Long Level again.

See ya.

Hi Nate,

Some of us will be at Blue Marsh Lake on Friday all day. We will be near the swim area across from the Dry Brooks ramp. Then either Saturday or Sunday we will be down at the Black Rock Dam area in Collegeville, Pa.
